AFTER SCHOOL PARTY
Restored 1959 Book by the Pollards for Lowe
Remember the days of rushing home from school to turn on the TV and hear to the latest tunes by the most popular bands, and to learn the new dances too? Real kids populated the floor of that show, and we could relate...well some of us could. I was not so hot at the dancing part, but I loved watching it and seeing what the girls were wearing.
This book, painted by George and Nan Pollard (he did the cover art, she did the dolls and clothes) is a variation of several other books by Lowe...including Busy Teens, Junior Misses, and Tina and Her Friends. We have all those other books too. The borders on the clothes are the same, and some clothes from book to book, but there are different clothes for Tina & Friends. Oh, they were clever to get so much mileage out of the art they had.
This version was published in Canada with Lowe's maple leaf logo. It was also done under the Bonnie Books lable, and the Busy Teens version was published by Whitman. Confused? No wonder it's sometimes hard to figure out who-dunnits in paper dolls. This book was undated, and the Busy Teens was published in 1958, so we calculated that this spin-off version may have been the following year, but it could have been 1960 as well.
With this 8.5" x 11" stapled book, there are 4 dolls and 6 pages of clothes. Finished book size is 8.5" x 11". All laser printed on archival top-grade, fine-grained, smooth-finish, easy-to-cut papers. Presented in a crystal clear archival seal-top bag.
