Livonia PD Party Souvenir
Buick & (Botts) Artist
by Judy M Johnson
Now On 80# Archival CARDSTOCK!
I created this paper doll from a car portrait I drew many years ago in black ink. I added color, and a Davi Botts doll & costumes (which I also colored) and arranged them together to make this souvenir for the June paper doll party in Livonia, Michigan. I like the way it tells a story of a young artist having traveled to the countryside with her paints and artist smock to paint the beauty there. She has a change of clothes in case the mosquitoes are bothersome or it gets a little cool.
I was the featured speaker and gave a program on Motoring Through Fashion History with paper dolls and a biographic program showing my paper doll art from childhood, for publishers, conventions, advertising, etc. Also included were examples from my family from my grandma, who made her own paper doll, and saved some from the 20s for her future daughter (my mother, Helen,) then my mom's fab cutwork costumes, and my daughter Jenny's move into paper doll publishing with OPDAG Paper Studio and Paper Doll Review, and her own PD publishing company Paper Studio Press.
Sooo all that's how this one page paper doll came into being. It's laser printed on 80# cardstock paper sized 8.5" x 11".
