"The Companion" Paper Doll Series
From Women's Home Companion, Feb 1920-June 1921
Beautiful Art by Emma Musselman
Emma Musselman was a fabulous artist/illustrator of her day, and painted beautiful paper dolls, as well as fashion illustrations, which you may find also in Women's Home Companion. My mom, Helen, has all this series, which I have finally gotten cleaned up and into a "compendium" book.
The series begins with
1. Introducing Margery May
2. Her Cousin Suzette
3. Her Brother Tom
4. Her French chum, Marie Louise
5. Her little twin sisters, Madeleine & Gladys
6. Her Japanese friend, Tamaki
7. Her big sister Marion, in her wedding
I made the cover from a story illustration that was on the back of one of the paper dolls. There were a man and a lady in there, and I painted them out, to put a dressed figure of Margery May into the scene.
BTW- the yellowish background to the sample pages here, will be white when you get your finished 8 page 8.5" x 11" book with all 7 paper doll pages in the series.
All archival; 80# covers, and 32# inside pages. Stored in a crystal clear seal-top bag.
