CAITLYN, The CATALOGUE GIRL
by Helen C Johnson (Judys' Mom)
Here's a sweet little gal, made from cutting up figures from pattern books of the 80s-90s, and making them fit the little doll. First a doll must be selected, and this is usually a figure in shorts or bathing suit. Then finding the clothes is the next operation. As there were so few dark-skinned girls in the books at that time, it took my mom a long time to gather enough outfits in the right size to fit her chosen "doll".
Then I further refined the dolls and clothes by adding the stand, so the feet variations would fit the doll, and arranged them on pages, and added border and copy. (Mother just left white area around the feet of the clothes, to hide the feet of the doll.) So we have this resulting collaberation, and hopefully an idea for you to make more clothes for Caitlyn and other little friends with clothes.
Four 8.5""x11" pages ALL on 80# cardstock, slipped into crystal clear Mylar seal-top bag. All archival materials.
For our other ethnic and dark-skinned dolls check the "Category" list on the left under "Black, Ethnic, World."
