DRESSES of MANY LANDS
Restored Vintage Book
Art by Lottie Gorn
Publisher and Date unknown
A restored story/paper doll book of the early-mid 50s. Two cute little girls, and five pages of clothes, plus four b/w story pages. There is no story for an extra costume that appears to be Swiss or French. These were called, on the cover "Muse Arts New Fabric Series" as parts of the dresses were flocked, making them look like fabric. We have not altered the look of the flocked areas, as they reproduced quite well, but they, of course, no longer are really fuzzy.
it's perhaps a British production, as it has the story pages.
History Tidbit: After the war in England, funds needed to be raised so they added taxes to certain items, including toys. (dumb idea!) Paper dolls came under the "toy" category, but storybooks did not. So all the publishers of paper dolls simply added story pages to their books, thereby avoiding the added tax.
All Archival Materials: 80# coverstock double covers, 32# clothes & story pages, Mylar seal-top bag.
