A Series from Goodhousekeeping Magazine, 1909
Art by Cushman Parker
This pretty little collection appeared from February through November of 1909. The first had the full color page, and more black and white costumes on the back. Maybe they expected children to trace them and redraw them onto fresh paper. They certainly could not run prints on a copier! I have put them on their own page for you to color and cut out without ruining what's on the other side (as in the magazine.)
I would not have known the artist of this series had I not seen Marion Creamer's exhibit of a folio set by this artist, at the 2010 paper doll convention in Kansas City. Only one page was the same (Little Louise,) however Marion's set, called Dorothy Dimples by Geo. Jacobs Co. (also 1909,) was larger; about 11" x 14". While the ones I borrowed from my mom, Helen Johnson, were quite small; about 7.5" x 10". It is the smaller ones that comprise my new little book version.
In this we have the following pages:
Little Louise and Her Pets;
b/w clothes for Louise;
Little Louise's Sister May;
Little Louise's Brother Ned;
Katherine at College (a cousin;)
Little Louise's Friend Cinderella;
and Little Louise's Friend Rastus.
Laser printed on top grade archival papers throughout. Short grain, smooth finish, easy to cut. 80# cardstock covers, 32# costume pages. Finished book size, 8.5" x 11", stored in a crystal clear archival seal-top bag.
