The Paper Doll People of Cherry Road
Collected From Jack and Jill Magazine, 1943-44
Restored and Arranged by Judy M Johnson
Art by Beth Henninger
From the extensive magazine paper doll collection from my mom, Helen Johnson, I have built this book for you. It's a charming series (sometimes interspersed with seasonal paper dolls and toys) of a little community of just 8 families. We not only have the paper dolls of these folks, but include the charming story pages to tell us all about this caring community.
Since it is set during WWII, some people are in the service, some are doing their bit at home; there is a nursery to help the working mothers; an older couple are air warden and gardener, we meet school girls, a career girl, a wedding is celebrated, and more... 6 paper doll pages, and 5 story pages, & the two covers in all.
I have used a beautiful Miram Story Hurford illustration for the cover. It's the cover from a 1932 Women's World magazine.
Formatted as a stapled book, finished size 8.5" x 11" All archival- 80# coverstock covers, 32# inside pages. Some pages are printed on both sides when the description/story accompanies the paper doll page. The back cover shows all the pages.
