North-Central America (1703)
and Great Lakes (1718)
Laser Printed on 80# Cardstock
I love old maps, and seeing how navigators and map-makers of hundreds of years ago managed to make them as accurately as they did. That accomplishment is just stunning to me. There were no satellites to show the land and water masses. It all had to be figured out from walking and surveying the land, and traversing coastlines by boat!
The first three images are from one map of North America, the Gulf and into Central America from a hand drawn map of 1703. The 4th one is the Great Lakes area, showing all five lakes, but the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (where I live) is mostly non-existant. That is from a map of 1718.
Can you find your own locale on the maps? Note how different is is from how you understand maps of today.
Makes a nice gift for travelers, and map lovers....and readers of ancient days.
Each bookmark is about 2.5" x 8". You cut them out to use just as they are, or you may like to add embellishments. The back side has a description of what the image is about. Printed on one 80# cardstock sheet, 8.5" x 11"
