Now on 80# Archival Cardstock
Beautifully drawn and appearing in newspapers all across the country, these paper dolls from the "funny papers" were the delight of girls everywhere. In 1949, Saalfield publishers realized the commecial value of these PDs and gathered them into a collection of SIXY FOUR pages.
They called it Tip Top Dolls with a misleading cover of redrawn figures of children, giving no clue as to the beautifully drawn art inside. I was thrilled when I pulled this book out of it's archival bag and thumbed through it. It wasn't a book of children as the cover seemed to say, it was this FAB book of Charlotte Ware's lively line art! There it had sat in my box of children's paper dolls for a couple years, with me ignoring it cause of the lack-luster cover. Ya just can't tell a book by it's cover....especially a paper doll book!
Here I have put together three of Ms. Ware's wonderful renderings of gals with jobs; Dolly is a waitress, Patricia is a secretary and Rebecca is a model. Each is arranged with pretty bands of color to enhance the design. Charlotte draws little cartoons along the bottom of each telling more about the gal's life activities. Very charming!
Your copies of the prints will not have the watermarks on them.
Restored to full color brilliance, and formatted to fit 8.5"x11" papers. Laser printed on 80# CARDSTOCK bright white archival paper, and presented in a crystal clear seal-top bag.
