Printed on One Side for Cutting
From the Collection of Judy M Johnson
If you are a paper doll collector, you probably love fashion from all time periods too! The 1880s were years of excess when it came to ladies' dresses, with yards and yards of fabrics and tons of trims, pleats, swags, bows, laces, and various furbelows. A few images include little girls fashions also.
This collection of fashion plates are from the collection of Judy M Johnson. They are selected from a group she purchased from her friend and fellow paper doll artist, Pat Stall, in the late 1980s. These include images signed (in the plate) by the artists and designers, making them highly sought by collectors. We are happy to be able to share them with you this way.
The artwork appeared in fashion magazines of New York, Berlin, Paris and London or as special art print editions. Each plate represents the latest in fashion design from the major style centers of the world. They are reproduced from engravings which are hand-painted in a complex stencil and brush process, resulting in a deeply rich, elegant finished look.
Each plate has been restored, by Judy, with yellowed backgrounds brightened, and damaged areas repainted. Most originals are about 10" x 15" in size or 9"x11", and reduced to fit this 8.5" x 11" format.
The art is useful for research, and general viewing enjoyment. It has been printed on only one side of the paper, so it's are suitable for collage, art and crafts, and scrapbooking projects. The paper is archival 32# text weight and laser printed for color permanence which will stand up to glues and glazes.

Shackman; Dover Publications; Scott Publications; Collector Communications; Magicloth Toys; Schylling Toys; and Paper Studio Press, owned and operated by Judy's daughter, Jenny Taliadoros.
